Construction to start of Uzbek gas pipeline to China THE CONSTRUCTION of the 1818-km long Uzbekistan-China gas pipeline with a capacity of 30bn cum/yr is expected to begin shortly, according to Nurmohammad Ahmadov, the chairman of the Board of Directors of Uzbekneftgaz National Holding Co (NHC). According to a schedule approved by the Uzbek president, the first of the parallel gas pipelines and a compressor station are expected to be completed by the end of 2009; the second parallel gas pipeline and two further compressor stations are expected to be constructed by January, 2012.
Greek gas pipeline deal agreed ITALIAN ENERGY firm Edison has launched a joint venture called IGI Poseidon with the Greek company Depa in order to develop the 192-km long Greece-Italy gas pipeline. The Greek and Italian authorities have already reached the final stages for the authorization of the equal-share joint-venture project, which his planned to transport 282bn cuft/yr of gas under the Adriatic Sea.
Yamal sea crossing pipe-coating contract US-BASED ShawCor Ltd's subsidiary Bredero Shaw has received a contract with a value in excess of $20 million to provide three-layer anti-corrosion and concrete weight coating for the subsea crossing of Baydaratskaya Bay. The contract will be executed at the company's coating facility in Leith, Scotland.
